10 reasons why i love "black belt jones"...

  • Dec. 26th, 2009 at 1:31 PM

a while ago i posted an entry to convey my dismay that i had inadvertently watched "black samurai" instead of "black belt jones" well i finally got my hands on BBJ and it was well worth the wait. here are 10 reasons why BBJ is the shit:

1) pinky the thug- pinky makes this movie w/ some the best one-liners ever case in point,

pinky and crew go to menace BBJ's dojo in the still of the night and one of the thugs blurts out loud, "it's dark in here..." and pinky responds "no shit nigga....you musta went to harvard..." priceless

2) jim kelly is always in various stages of undress...

3) the 70s tight pants/flared collar combo...

4) for some reason the sound editing team seem to thought that it would add to the hilarity if they added curly, of the stooges fame, "wooo hooo wooo's" to loop jim's karate grunts...

5) "syyyydddnnnyyy is a brrrrroad..."

6) the midnight dojo fight...

7) the fact there is a karate dojo in the middle of a poor black community...

8) the fact there is a karate dojo in the middle of a poor black community, and scatman crothers is the dojo master...

9) this scene...

10) as a whole it is a hot mess of fun...

a good times :)

Reflections

Two days left until Christmas, a lot has happened and as the new year approaches its time to reflect on what 2009 meant to us. A year can change a person, how they think, and who they are. Did this year change you any? Did you achieve any of your goals?

A lot of people passed away this year, does that make you think? Have you gotten what you wanted this year? Did you love to your fullest? Did you live, to your fullest? If you didn't wake up tomorrow did you get to do what you always wanted to do. Don't think of the shades of black, white or gray. Do not think in material terms, but you, do you even know you?

Sometimes you can reach out and find nothing at all. That when your eyes awake next it is immortal blackness. So I ask you again, did you really live? Did you really get to do all that your soul desired to do?

Keep moving forward, once you reflect you know, you have to keep moving forward, there's no going back. You grow up so fast, and then you realize hey, time's gone by and did I get to do what I wanted? Maybe, maybe not but you'll keep moving forward, making new goals and striving to always better yourself.

One way or another you will achieve what you wanted. Good is good, but hey better is even better, always look for something more, always keep wondering. As 2010 approaches, remind yourself of all that's happened this past year, good or bad. 2009 is just about over, and as you look ahead, what will you?

Hello Seattle

  • Dec. 19th, 2009 at 6:57 AM
Also, yesterday, the 18th of December, was Dad's 50th Birthday. Man, he's old, anyway went up to Seattle to visit Matt's Uncle and Aunt, nice people, his mother as we both came to agree is completely fucking nuts. For reasons we won't discuss here online, and don't we just love being female, and having this thing called a period? LOVE IT!

Back aches, galore, which makes me more unbearable during this time, with no drugs in the house to help me out, the husband has been kind of enough to get me more pillows. Oh so we were reading these interesting articles on conception and babies and such, and wow... I almost rather have a boy if this article proves true.

http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/how-to-conceive-a-boy.html

Really? Yeah if you read the one about girls, you're not suppose to orgasm. Supposedly.

Matt and I were really surprised that people get paid to write this stuff, or even if they don't really? Are you freaking serious? That's just mildly depressing considering we want three girls, we don't believe this shit for a minute- Trust us, we're geeks we're not stupid... Not that stupid anyway.

Anywho, went to Seattle, nice place, lovely, lots of water, and trees... Trees... And trees.

Is it just me or does it seem that everywhere BUT South Central, Texas have Trees? Atlanta, Seattle, Tacoma hell even Olympia has more tress than San Antonio, did! GAH!

Alas, we won't have the house to ourselves Christmas Eve-Day, we have a housemate that will be here, which is fine he's one of my favorite housemates! I just don't want to leave him out of anything. Said Housemate has been lending ideas of making Poison Ivy such a more wonderful villain with a more rich background, man he's awesome.

Funnily enough his name is John, yeah like my best friend from San Antonio, just yeah different John but still cool nonetheless, we watched the Full Works of Shakespeare abridged, funny shit and great shit.

Watched Idiocracy and Inglorious Bastards great films and I recommend both. Did a little more reading on Sarah Beach's Scribbler's Guide to the Land of Myth. Hoping to be past section two tomorrow night. Argh, okay back hurts like hell, I'm going to snuggle down into bed and sleep before Matt does, otherwise I'll have to put up with his snores.
